Deloitte joins forces with Thomas Consultants to strengthen Real Estate Advisory services.
Toronto, February 15, 2018 - Deloitte today announced the acquisition of Thomas Consultants Inc. (TCI), a specialty real estate consulting firm specializing in strategy, planning and development of large-scale retail projects. As part of Deloitte’s Real Estate advisory practice, the expanded team will provide clients with a more comprehensive service offering. The TCI team brings expertise in urban land economics, market feasibility, strategy, urban planning, finance and occupier analytics.

“Clients are seeking specialization and new ideas to create value for their real estate and development projects,” said Sheila Botting, Partner, and Canadian Real Estate Leader, Deloitte Canada. “We are thrilled to welcome TCI’s team of seasoned experts and market leaders who understand the trends disrupting retail and mixed-use real estate asset management and development. Their skills and expertise complement our own, and we can now offer our private and public sector clients more as they undertake complex retail and real estate development projects.”

Botting added, “TCI projects rank among the world’s biggest and most enduring. That they have chosen Deloitte to expand their mark, I think, says a lot about the capability and reputation of our existing team.”

“The lines of retail development are becoming blurred further with the growth of large-scale, mixed-use projects,” said Ian Thomas, Chairman, Thomas Consultants Inc. “The opportunity to dovetail with Deloitte’s unique state-of-the-art expertise is truly manifest.”

“Mixed-use real estate has become the wave of the future and TCI together with our current team is a leader in this space,” said Charles Knight, Managing Partner, British Columbia Financial Advisory. “Our expanded team is now better positioned to advise our clients with a greater level of experience and ability that will help them capitalize on bigger and more complex projects.”
